Our aims
The film, TV, and cinema industry plays a key part in the functioning of British society and the representation of the UK across the world – which is why ensuring equity is so important to the future of society.
Reel Impact was created in 2022 to support the creation of a more inclusive, equitable, and anti-racist industry that properly recognises and values the expertise of its Black and Global Majority members – the crucial contributions they have made and will continue to make.
Reel Impact is a constantly evolving, co-designed initiative that centres Black and Global Majority voices in its development and decision-making. As a learning organisation, the Charity is committed to ensuring that the initiative delivers real impact in a rapidly changing and challenging environment.
The first round of Reel Impact gave awards to five organisations and eight individuals. Following the feedback received from the first round of awards, we have improved the process to ensure we maximise the aspirations of the co-design process and respond to the needs of beneficiaries.

Partnerships
Alongside our grants, we are developing a further strand of the Reel Impact programme that will focus on creating partnerships with organisations that can extend their offerings to support Black and Global Majority professionals.
This strand of the programme will enhance and develop careers and skills, provide access to opportunities which may not usually be accessible, as well as opening up spaces for networking.
