Betty Box & Peter Rogers Comedy Writing Programme

What The Programme Supports

The Betty Box & Peter Rogers Comedy Writing Awards were created to find writers of all ages who have been trying to break into comedy writing and support them with a financial and educational support to develop their writing.

The Film & Television Charity, in partnership with Big Talk Productions and LOCO (The London Comedy Film Festival), launched a script development programme in October 2016 designed to develop four emerging comedy writers.

Each writer is awarded £10,000 and receives a personalised programme of industry support. The aim, through the programme, is to support writers in developing a comedy feature film screenplay or pilot script for a narrative comedy television series.

At the end of the inaugural programme, the selected writers’ work was presented as a live, fully cast table read to an industry audience during a special LOCO event in spring 2017.
