Financial support to help you overcome barriers

Grants

If you’re facing urgent financial needs, we may be able to provide you with some financial support. If you work behind the scenes in film, TV or cinema, then you may be eligible for one of our grants. If you have any questions regarding our grants before you begin your application, please get in touch via email [email protected].

Sir Horace Ové Grant

Applications are now open for the Sir Horace Ové Grant, designed to help Black and Global Majority people working behind the scenes in film, TV, and cinema to access opportunity and navigate barriers to career progression.

This is a new scheme in addition to our existing Stop Gap Grants. As a Black Global Majority individual, you can now also apply for a grant of up to £500 to specifically help you access opportunities leading to paid work. This could cover:

  • Child or adult care
  • Travel costs
  • Equipment upgrades
  • Membership of or subscriptions to professional bodies
  • Short vocational and professional development courses

To apply for the grant, you must provide a short impact statement detailing how the grant will support you in your career, as well as proof of eligibility and costs. Full details and eligibility criteria can be found on our website.

Whilst BGM people are able to apply for both grants, if an application is made to the Sir Horace Ove Grant to access an opportunity, any additional application for a Stop Gap Grant must be to manage urgent financial needs or to support with unexpected costs in a crisis.

Stop Gap Grants

Our Stop Gap Grant is there to help during times where you have a financial shortfall and cannot cover your expenses. Where demand for support is high, we have to consider carefully where the financial need is most acute and where our limited grants will have the greatest impact.

Available to people from all backgrounds, our Stop Gap Grants are usually up to £750, and with a quick and straightforward application process they can provide immediate financial support when it’s needed the most. To be eligible to apply you must work in any behind-the-camera role in film or television in the UK. Please note, grant applications can take up to 10 days to process.
