Sir Horace Ové Grant

Overview

Thank you for your interest in the Sir Horace Ové Grant, a one-off grant of up to £500 to help Black and Global Majority people working behind the scenes in film, TV, and cinema to access opportunity and navigate barriers to career progression.

To apply for the grant, you will need three pieces of evidence:

At least one online profile from either BFI, IMDb, Screenskills, Mandy or Talent Manager. If you don't have any of these then we can consider, at our discretion LinkedIn or similar. Vimeo or YouTube is not preferred as a source of evidence
Documentation such as three payslips, P45 or P60 invoice, or at least three remittance advice or contracts
Current CV including details of your last three jobs
You will also need to provide a professional referee

You will also need access to:

Basic details of your work history
Basic details of your current finances (including any income, expenditure, debts, and savings)

Eligibility Criteria

Please read our eligibility checklist and confirm that you're eligible to apply for the grant.

1. You must have been in paid or funded film and TV industry work for at least 40 days in the last 18 months OR have worked at least two years in film and TV in the last 10 years and are seeking funding to return to work after a career break. This must be in a behind-the-camera role that contributes to the creation, dissemination, or commercial exploitation of moving image entertainment content for:

Broadcast and on-demand television (e.g. BBC, ITV, Sky)
Paid-for original content streaming services (e.g. Netflix, Amazon Prime)
Cinemas (a confirmed run of at least 10 screenings).

Contributions through allied services such as facilities and catering, or financial and administrative services are included. Some of your professional experience may be unpaid, but the proportion should be appropriate to your career stage. At our discretion, we may give consideration to short films, or features films that have only screened at festivals.

2. The following will not count towards eligibility criteria:

Film used solely for the purpose of education, advertising, corporate films, campaigning and lobbying, or personal services such as wedding videos, or is broadcast or exhibited in venues or via channels other than those described above e.g. free online or in galleries.
Any front-of-camera role, including presenters, actors and supporting artists.

3. You must not have accessible savings. This does not include the following:

Funds set aside to cover tax or NI liabilities for the previous tax year or for work already completed and paid in the current tax year
Funds in officially designated pension schemes
Funds in junior ISAs for dependent children
Funds in a Lifetime ISA
