Get involved in building better industry connections

Share your experiences in the film, TV, and cinema industry
23 January 2025

Please note: we are no longer looking for participants for this study. Thank you to everyone who has taken part.

Our research has uncovered that loneliness is the most important factor influencing the mental health of people working in film and TV, outweighing money worries, poor management and work-life balance.

Share your experiences in the film, TV, and cinema industry

As part of our efforts to learn more about social connections in film and TV, we want to hear from you about your experiences in the industry. We want to learn more about your working environments and relationships and find out what might help to build better industry connections and a sense of community.

We’ve partnered with the Centre for Loneliness Studies at Sheffield Hallam University to carry out further research.

We will be interviewing people working behind-the-scenes in film and TV in late January/early February 2025. All discussions will be anonymised and will be used to inform the support we offer in the future.

Focusing on groups experiencing high levels of loneliness

We are hoping to speak with the following groups, who according to our Looking Glass 2024 research experience the highest levels of loneliness.

  • Workers with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions
  • Neurodivergent workers
  • Industry professionals who are workless (those who have been out of work for a significant period of time)
  • Black and Global Majority workers – particularly people from Middle Eastern, Bangladeshi and Pakistani backgrounds
  • Muslim workers
  • Carers of adult dependents, carers of children with disabilities or special needs
  • LGBTQ+ workers – particularly Trans or Bisexual workers
  • People from working class backgrounds
