New approach supporting partnerships to tackle systemic barriers

The third, and final, round of Reel Impact, which opens for applications today, introduces an important update: organisations are now able to apply in partnership for up to £50,000 to advance race equity.

This new approach places a stronger emphasis on collaboration, encouraging deeper, strategic partnerships between Black and Global Majorityled organisations.

By supporting joint initiatives that address structural barriers and drive systemic change, this round aims to help shape a more equitable future for the sector.

Ensuring equity during Reel Impact’s final round

As the Charity prepares for its final and biggest round yet, it will once again appoint a new cohort of Peer Assessors to ensure the process remains fair and equitable.

Reel Impact was created specifically for experienced mid-to-senior level professionals, rather than those just entering the industry. The programme acknowledges that while these individuals are already highly skilled, they continue to face structural barriers that restrict their progression.

Across the first and second rounds, a total of nine organisations and twelve individuals have received awards, including a big push to awards for those outside of London and the South.

Building trust, creating opportunities and forging long-term partnerships

Anita Herbert, Reel Impact Programme Manager, said: I’m incredibly proud to launch the third round of Reel Impact and to champion the excellence that already exists across our industry. This programme is about more than funding – it’s about building trust, creating opportunities, and forging long-term partnerships.

I hope these Reel Impact investments help remove barriers and create the conditions for lasting, systemic change. The energy and impact we’re already seeing from our awardees is truly inspiring. It’s tough out there, and I can’t wait to see how they continue to progress, grow, and thrive”.
