How we do it
We support those working in film, television and cinema who experience difficulties due to poor health, career issues and other circumstances, often beyond their control.
Each year we distribute around £1million in financial support to hundreds of individuals and families who need urgent and ongoing assistance. We also support emerging talent in Film & TV.
We do this through a number of ways alongside our general support fund, including the North East Travel and Subsistence scheme (NETS), The Family Support Fund for parents and carers, and Talent Development programmes, including The John Brabourne Awards (JBAs), the Richard Attenborough Scholarship for the National Film and Television School (NFTS), and the Betty Box and Peter Rogers Comedy Writing Programme.
For those in need of support, the only criteria for assistance is at least two years of work in the industry, as staff, contractor or freelancer. This two-year period does not need to be consecutive.
We’re able to provide support for financial and debt issues, as well as practical help – for example, if your washing machine has broken down. Our support team regularly assists and offers guidance from every part of the Film & TV industry and at every stage of your career, including if you’re retired or out of work.
If you’re looking to boost your Film & TV career, our talent development awards are a great place to start. Discover more here.
